What is the best premium car? The 2017 Audi A4
Advanced technology clearly pegs the A4 as a product of a different era from the princess of Monaco.
You can opt for Audi’s virtual cockpit, configurable digital instrumentation rendered upon a 12.3-inch screen. You’ll find all manner of connectivity to meet all of your information and entertainment needs. Passengers will “oooh” and “aaah” over the LED lighting system that brightens the evening drive, and those riding in the rear will surely appreciate the rear climate control. And the Bang & Olufsen audio system is terrific.
Drivers living in areas where inclement weather is commonplace will appreciate the extra traction provided by the A4’s available Quattro all-wheel drive, and those needing a little more utility will want to check out the A4 Allroad, which adds cargo space while providing light off-roading capability.
Safety-wise, the A4 boasts a comprehensive set of driver assistance and collision avoidance systems, as well as semi-autonomous features that make the commute a bit more bearable. The A4 can even warn you about approaching traffic as you’re opening the door to exit the car from a parallel parking space on a busy street.
The car is structurally superb as well, earning a 5-Star rating from the NHTSA and a “Top Safety Pick+” designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
What about this Audi’s performance? Well, it’s like Grace Kelly too, but in her off-screen, pre-royal duty days, when she was known to be quite the party girl.
While detractors may claim that a front-wheel-drive configuration can’t compete with the handling prowess of a rear-wheel-drive sport sedan, we kindly beg to differ. You may be able to tell the difference between rear-drive competitors and a front-drive A4 screaming down the racetrack driving at edge of adhesion, but up to that point the Audi will keep up just fine, thank you very much.
