FERRARI F60 America

2017 Ferrari F60 America Review

In front of an ecstatic crowd and a very proud owner, the first Ferrari F60 America was delivered today during the 25th annual Palm Beach Cavallino Classic.

The car was first introduced in 2014 to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of Ferrari in America, and it is, in fact, an open-top version of the insane F12 Berlinetta, with some adjustments here and there.

The F60’s bodywork is inspired by the 1967 275 GTS- 4 NART and it comes with a fresh aluminum body, unique front and rear bumpers, deeper side strakes, redesigned hood, more pronounced winglets and a rigorously aero-designed back end.

It also features a lightweight fabric roof that can be raised or lowered at speeds up to 75 mph (120 km/h), two leather-wrapped roll bars with carbon fiber-trimmed flying buttresses, five-spoke alloy wheels and special 6th Anniversary Prancing Horse badge on the wheel arches and the center tunnel in the cabin.

The exterior is finished in Blu Nart with a center white stripe, inspired by the famous livery of Luigi Chinetti’s NART outfit.

As you sit in the car, you feel like a leather American flag is embracing you. The dual-tone interior is designed asymmetrically, with the driver’s side finished with red trim and upholstery, while the passenger’s accommodations are black. Stripes on the seats reminiscent of Stars and Stripes complete the theme.

Under the hood lies the hardcore 6.3-liter V12 engine from the F12, which produces 730 horsepower and 509 lb-ft (690 Nm) of torque, linked to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The F60 sprints from a standstill to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3.1 seconds and has a top speed of over 200 mph (322 km/h).

Proportional with its rarity is also the price. Each owner had to pay USD $2.5 million for the opportunity to have this incredible machine in their collection. Americans are known for their patriotism, and as the car is an homage to their country, we suppose customers paid the requested sum without too much thinking.

KOENIGSEGG CCXR Trevita

2017 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita Review

A DIAMOND ON WHEELS
”Trevita” is a Swedish abbreviation that translates into “three whites”. The Koenigsegg visible carbon weave bodywork is renowned around the globe for its uniqueness and perfection.

Prior to the Trevita, car manufacturers only had access to traditional black carbon fibres. Koenigsegg developed a unique coated fiber solution for the Trevita program that transformed the fibers from black to a sparkling, silvery white. When sunlight hits the Trevita, it sparkles as if millions of tiny white diamonds are infused inside the visible carbon fiber bodywork.

The Trevita features a unique double carbon rear wing, inconell exhaust system, carbon ceramic brakes with ABS, airbags, paddle-shift, chrono instrument cluster, infotainment system, tire monitoring system and a hydraulic lifting system.

The Trevita was originally intended to be a limited edition of three examples. The white carbon fibre used for the Trevita made the car extremely difficult and time consuming to manufacture, however, and a decision was taken to make the car even more exclusive and limit the number of Trevitas made to just two.

VOLVO S60

2017 Volvo S60 Polestar Review

For centuries, painters and photographers have adored the quality of daylight in the south of France, where tourism promoters tout 320 sunny days a year. Our visit covered three of the other days, during which we had not one glimpse of the sky over Provence. Clouds stretched horizon to horizon while fog and occasional rain blanketed the rocky hills outside of Marseille. But no matter. Entertaining driver’s roads also cover this landscape, and our group of 2017 Volvo S60 Polestars danced over these, their Rebel Blue paint glowing like fallen patches of clear sky that had dropped through the cloud layers. Traffic around us included Morgans and Lancia Delta Integrales driven by race fans headed, like us, for the Paul Ricard race circuit. This first weekend in April, Paul Ricard was hosting the season-opening race of the FIA’s 2016 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), in which Polestar’s new two-car team was making its debut.

No races in this “world” championship visit North America (the Western Hemisphere sees one round in Argentina), but Volvo’s factory-backed entry in the series will matter to that small cadre of enthusiasts who favor Swedish-minded performance cars. They’ll also recognize Rebel Blue as the model-specific color offered since the special-edition S60 sedan and V60 wagon Polestar models debuted for 2015. The 2017 model went on sale the day after the race; Volvo wasn’t so arrogant as to expect a win in the car’s first outing on Sunday, but selling performance on Monday has become part of the Polestar mission.

New Engine for the Street Car

For its third year, the roadgoing S60 Polestar gets a heart transplant. It’s now powered by an uprated version of Volvo’s Drive-E four-cylinder engine instead of the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder, while an Aisin eight-speed replaces the former six-speed automatic transmission. Whereas the turbocharged six-cylinder was rated at 345 horsepower at 5250 rpm, the four is both supercharged and turbocharged and extracts 362 horsepower from a mere 2.0 liters of displacement. This engine is rated at 302 horsepower in the S60 and 316 horsepower in the XC90. Polestar’s version has a bigger turbocharger, more-aggressive valve timing, stronger connecting rods, a high-capacity fuel pump, and a larger, freer-flowing intake system fitted with a low-restriction filter. Its bigger 3.0-inch exhaust system leads to twin tailpipes, and there’s a valve that opens under electronic control or when the driver chooses Sport mode with the transmission lever.

Compared with the car’s former Polestar six, the horsepower gain comes at higher rpm (6000), and peak torque decreases to 347 lb-ft at 3100 rpm from 369 at 3000. Volvo claims 60 mph should come up in 4.4 seconds. The carmaker claimed 4.7 for the previous version, but when we tested the 2015 Volvo S60 Polestar, we got to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds. Fuel consumption also is said to improve, although EPA ratings are not yet in.

Over the road and during a half-dozen laps of Paul Ricard after the WTCC cars practiced on Friday, we found the new drivetrain an improvement to an already appealing car. Polestar reprograms the eight-speed for quicker shifts and to optimize gear selection to match the new power curve, and it mates well with the engine enhancements. Here’s a secret trick: To engage a hidden “Sport+” mode in the transmission, pull the gear lever left into Sport, push it forward to the upshift position marked “+”, and hold it there while pulling back twice on the downshift “-” paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. A green “S” light in the instrument panel blinks twice to indicate engagement. It’s meant for occasional track use, but it’s a fully automatic mode that keeps the engine spinning at 4000 rpm or above. That’s also the rpm where the supercharger drive clutch disengages and the turbo can provide the boost. “It’s too extreme for road use,” Polestar product VP Henrik Fries cautioned, but he may underestimate the enthusiasm of some performance-segment buyers. Yank a paddle or move the lever to choose your own gear and Sport+ disengages, but on the track this mode shifted just about exactly where our ride-along racing drivers had instructed when we were lapping and doing our own shifting.

The drivetrain transplant removes 44 pounds from the car’s curb weight, Volvo claims, and the weight bias has shifted rearward so the front axle actually carries 53 fewer pounds. The front-suspension spring rate is slightly lower, which also yields a little more ride compliance. Still, the Polestar springs are 80 to 90 percent stiffer than those on the base S60.

What Makes a Polestar

Not much else changes. There’s a new but similar design for the 20-inch wheels, while the electrically assisted power steering now has Polestar-specific calibrations, still adjustable over three weight settings via a submenu on the center-console screen. The steering feels a bit lighter and more responsive, but it’s hard to say whether that’s because of the new programming or the actual mass reduction over the wheels. Polestar’s upgrades are thorough, down to stiffer suspension bushings installed on the assembly line (in Ghent, Belgium, for S60s and Gothenburg, Sweden, for the V60 wagons), amounting to 50 significant changes that generate 260 new part numbers.

Overall, the car feels livelier and more eager, with the BorgWarner all-wheel-drive system (formerly known as Haldex V, before BW acquired Haldex’s traction division) reprogrammed to deliver a greater portion of torque to the rear wheels at all times. Aside from a less musical, coarser exhaust note, this new S60 Polestar comes across as an even-better all-around driver’s car without imposing any of the usual penalties of harsh ride or unwanted noise.

While there were only 750 Polestars in each of the two previous model years (America got 120 the first year, 265 the second), sold in just a few markets, there will be “up to 1500” for 2017 distributed among 47 countries. Polestar COO Niels Möller says that the performance segment is growing four times faster than the industry average, and he expects it to keep expanding over the next decade, even as development of autonomous cars grows.

Shoppers with a four-cylinder aversion may find a handful of 2016 Polestar six-cylinder cars still available at U.S. dealers, but the order book is open now on 2017 models, with worldwide deliveries slated to start in August. A U.S. price has not been announced, but Volvo HQ said there’d be no or little change from last year’s figures. In the U.S., the 2016 version starts at $60,260 with very few options and your choice of Rebel Blue or one of three colors more appealing to conformists: Onyx Black, Ice White, and Bright Silver.

Based on the previous mix, most Polestars are likely to be the V60 wagon, which has even fewer direct competitors in the States. It’s the sedan that’s racing in the WTCC, though. If Polestar manages to crown its Swedish champion driver in 2018 as planned, it will roughly coincide with the anticipated arrival of a next-generation S60 to be built in an all-new factory in South Carolina. Maybe they’ll put a Volvo race car on tracks where fans in the U.S. can watch it.

TOYOTA Supra

2017 Toyota Supra Review and Specs

Ever since 2007 that the world has been expecting to see the new Toyota Supra. It was then intended to hit the market in 2013 but Toyota just kept delaying the car for one or another reason.

A few years ago, Toyota signed up an agreement with BMW in order to develop a new roadster, and this would become the 2017 Toyota Supra. BMW already confirmed that they were the ones that took care of the design of the car. However, Toyota isn’t ready to launch the 2017 Toyota Supra on the market. According to them, BMW needs to be the one to release the car first.

Exterior

The Toyota Supra 2017 isn’t going to be the same as their competitors. Instead, the body will almost all be made out of aluminum with some specific parts made out of carbon fiber. With this difference, the 2017 Toyota Supra is expected to be one of the lightest for its class.

When the 2017 Toyota Supra was presented to the world, you could see some amazing futuristic details. However, now that the car is already in production, we know that the look will not be exactly the same. However, it should still remain a little more than just good looking.

Interior

The 2017 Toyota Supra interior is going to be completely focused on the driver, just as the previous version was. So, the center console will be turned to the driver and the dials will be very easy to read. The seats should also provide different positions to make sure you’re comfortable when you’re driving the Toyota Supra 2017.

Engine

One of the things, besides the futuristic design, that people are more anxious for is the Toyota Supra 2017 engine. Up until now, we expect that the can will have a BMW engine. We believe that the one that will be used in the 3-liter twin turbocharged inline 6 petrol engine. Another thing that is always expected is the car to have about 400 horsepower as well as 400 lb-ft of torque.
The standard version of the new Supra should be a 6-speed manual. However, they’re most likely also offer you the alternative to go with automatic as well. In this case, the most probable should be the 8-speed ZF.
The new Toyota Supra is expected to be a hybrid car but it should also come with the 3-liter engine. In case this happens, the most spoken and expected horsepower should be around 550 horsepower and 500  lb-ft of torque. This would allow Supra to enter the market with full force since it could be easily compared with cars like the Camaro or the Mustang.

Release Date And Price

Considering that there is a partnership between Toyota and BMW, as well as the new Z4 is already scheduled for the first or second quarter of 2017, the new Toyota Supra should only appear in the market after that.

What many people were wondering for so long about the new Supra were the futuristic design, a big car, and a $100K price tag. However, much has changed since 2007. Despite you can expect the new Supra to be a beautiful car, it should be smaller, the design shouldn’t be so aggressive and the price should be around $40K for the standard base model and up to about $60K for the top of the line.

ROLLS-ROYCE Dawn

2017 Rolls Royce Dawn Review

The model dubbed the 2017 Rolls Royce Dawn has been showcased and announced for release this year. The model is actually a convertible version of the Rolls Royce’s acclaimed vehicle called the Wraith which has been released in 2014 and caused a lot of ruckus with its elegant design. The Wraith was actually unveiled for the first time in Geneva and was an immediate success as it brought us a gorgeous fastback-like shape which was then complemented by enormous amounts of luxury and made the vehicle an immediate success.

This year at the Frankfurt Auto show we got our first look at the Rolls Royce Dawn and the model and we managed to see what the two-door convertible had to give us. There was a period of over a year where we were kept in the dark and only left to speculate if a cabriolet version would appear and when would it be. By then, we only managed to see a camouflaged prototype vehicle and not so many spy photos to boot and show us what could it actually be. Finally the car is getting released soon and the announcement has already been made official.

The name choice for the 2017 Rolls Royce Dawn was actually supposed to be different as the makers first decided on a name that went Wraith Drophead Coupek, which is a name that is borrowed form the convertible version of the Rolls Royce Phantom, luckily it did not stick. The name Dawn was more appropriate and it actually makes a comeback for the Rolls Royce brand as it was used in the 1950s for a limited edition version which had 28 models in total.

Exterior

The design of the 2017 Rolls Royce Dawn has an interesting design for a convertible, mainly as it departs from its regular version the Wraith. Usually the models are the same from the waist down but the case with the Dawn car is completely different. They say that they have included at least 80% of new body panels for the car which is actually one of the reasons that they decided to go for an all-together separate name.

But in fact, when comparing the two cars we do not see too many difference in the shape and size of the car and there are a few details that actually differentiate the Dawn and the Wraith models. The first is the design of the headlamps which bare a different shape, while the grille has been recessed by 1.7 inches and the bumper is 2.1 inches extended, which results in a longer front overhang.

The beltline of the car arches up to the rear part all the way above the wheels, which is not visible on the coupe version. In a way the Dawn looks like a facelifted Wraith but without its roof. l It also offers a new set of wheels with the polished 21-inch, and painted 21-inch and 20-inch wheels as your offer.

Interior

The interior of the 2017 Rolls Royce Dawn benefits from everything that eh Wraith has but adds even more. Of course it excludes the Starlight Headliner and its 1,340 individual lights woven into the roof liner for obvious reasons. It does, on the other hand, mange to add the arces of wood and fine leather wool carpets, and a wide array of upholstery colors and various customization options. The rear legroom area is quite ample and Rolls Royce states that this model is not your regular 2+2 as it is labeled as a veritable four-seater.

As this perhaps does not make sense in your normal case, it does when the brand is a Rolls. They do not plan to sacrifice any comfort and in the books of Rolls Royce makers 2 and 2 sometimes does not make 4, which is a stay say their right and an exception when your brand is Rolls Royce. Either way the comfort is immense and higher quality and something that you would expect for a model like this one. The technological aspect of the car is the same as inside the Wraith and generally speaking this is the most opulent convertible currently present on the market with an inside designed as a luxury cruise ship.

Engine

There were not any surprises when it came to the engine of the 2017 Rolls Royce Dawn, as they used the same kind of a powertrain found in the Wraith version. So the same 6.6-liter V-12 ghost spec unit power the Dawn and enables it with an output of 563 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque, which makes the Dawn less powerful than the coupe version which makes 624 horses and 590 pound-feet of torque. The power is transferred using the same  same ZF-built, eight-speed automatic, and enables the acceleration specs of 0-60 mph in 4.9 seconds. The top speed of the 2017 Rolls Royce Dawn is 155 mph.

Release date and price

As any other Rolls Royce out there, the 2017 Rolls Royce Dawn comes at a price, and this one has it at around $300,000 per unit. The vehicle is being already released this year with its respective release date being by the end of this year.
